Sherman and Sheryle Cloward Endowed Scholarship

Sherman and Sheryle Cloward Endowed Scholarship

In October 1998, Sherman and Sheryle Cloward established an endowed scholarship at Utah Valley University for students who wish to begin their education in the dental hygiene program.
Sherm Cloward, a successful dentist, developer, entrepreneur, and businessman, was born and raised in Utah County. While home for the summer in 1963, after his first year of dental school, he met Sheryle Allred and proposed just twelve days later.
While Sherm was in dental school at the University of Washington, Sheryle worked as a secretary at the university. Then Sherm served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force in Victorville, California, before the couple return to Provo. They had six children together.
In Provo, Sherm purchased property and built a four-office professional plaza in which to house his growing practice. The large size of the property allowed Sherm to build an apartment building adjacent to the office. His creativity and fondness for buildings led him to become the first developer of condominiums in Provo. Many offices, apartments, condominiums, and houses stand as a tribute to his vision and planning.
The couple established the Sherman and Sheryle Cloward Endowed Scholarship as a way of giving back to the community that has so richly blessed their lives and their family.
