Jean C. Macdonald Endowed Scholarship

Thomas and Kaye Macdonald established the Jean C. Macdonald Endowed Scholarship in 2006 to benefit Utah Valley University students who demonstrate significant service and leadership abilities. The scholarship is exclusively for single parents. Although preference is given to students in the Nursing, Education or Business program, the fund is open to all majors.
History:
Jean C. Macdonald is the mother of the Utah businessman Thomas Macdonald. Thomas has had successful careers as the president/ CEO of two Utah businesses, assistant dean of the Woodbury School of Business at UVU, and member of the Orem City Council. He has over 25 years’ experience in senior management and received the 2007 Businessman of the Year Award from the Provo-Orem Chamber of Commerce.

On May 4, 2006, Thomas’s mother, Jean, passed away. To honor her memory and support single parents seeking further education, Thomas and his wife, Kaye, created the Jean C. Macdonald Endowed Scholarship. For many years Jean worked at the Utah County Assessor’s office and enjoyed getting to see many of her acquaintances each year. She retired in 1991 and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends as well as singing solos and participating in choirs.
